Sleepy Baby

Abigail slept through the night, all the way, for the first time on the eve of her 4 month birthday! Yaaaaaay! She went from 8:30 p.m. to 6 a.m., ate for 20 minutes, then fell back asleep until 8 a.m. She is 4 months old today and has her 4 month appointment on Wednesday. Our little baby is growing up so fast...but I definitely don't mind getting more sleep.

She has also started noticing the pets. She especially likes skeeter, who is a calico. Whenever she comes around Abby, she can't take her eyes off the cat and starts talking to her in her whisper voice, or growling, as some like to call it. Abby also likes the way the kitty fur feels, but we've had to not allow her to touch them anymore, because she likes them so much now that she likes to take some of their fur with her when she's done.

Hair loss...at such a young age

Poor Abby! She's loosing her beautiful auburn hair! It's falling out on the sides and beginning to look more and more like a mohawk. I guess she's trying to look like uncle Danny :)

I want some food too!

Last weekend Mat and I went to Santa Barbara for a Youth Pastor's retreat. We went out to dinner, and my food was served on one of those little red and white checkered papers on top of my plate. At one point, I had Abby sitting on my lap and she grabbed the paper and yanked the food all over us and onto the floor, Ahhhhh! Luckily I was almost done eating and it was one of those places where they give peanuts to eat and let you throw the shells on the floor.

We stayed in a hotel with the three of us, and when Abby woke up Friday morning her eye was very red and swollen on the outside and red and weepy on the inside. We prayed for her and several hours later it was almost all gone, except for one little red spot. The next morning, the yucky eye was back and Mat prayed for her again and it got better immediately! Yay God!!!! We were really excited not just for Abby, but to also see God work.

Laughing...Te he he

Yesterday Abby laughed for the first time and Mat and I both got to hear it! Our friend Linda was even there to witness it :) I was tickling her chin and out popped a laugh! Other fun things that Abby has learned to do lately: use a whisper voice, hold her hands together, and practically shove her whole fist in her mouth. Ok, maybe not her whole fist, but she is always sucking on her fingers and drooling everywhere. People say she's teething, but we haven't seen any pearly whites pop up yet.

She still hates tummy time, I keep telling her that she needs to do it to learn to crawl, but she won't listen...silly baby. When we were in Oregon, Abby got to go to the beach for the first time and even stick her toes in, fun, fun, fun! We have lots of new pics., just need to find the time to post them. They should be up soon.

Grapes, Pickles, and Lizard Tails

Last week we discovered that Abby like to suck on grapes. Mat was holding her while we were eating lunch and she was fussing, so he bit his grape in half and held it to her lips. She sucked on it while he held it (don't worry, he didn't put the whole thing in her mouth). She was very content with that. Today we were eating lunch and she was doing the same thing, only this time Diane was holding her and I was eating a pickle. She suggested letting Abby taste it and she liked it just as much as the grape. Oh Boy! So...Yesterday morning I walked out into the living room, holding Abby, and I saw a lizard tail flopping around the ground, Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwww! Garfield thought it was the best thing ever. Sadly, the lizard didn't live, he was about 5 inches away curled up in a ball.

Ouchie!

Last night we were cutting Abby's nails, because she scratched herself on her face and made herself bleed, and accidentally cut her thumb nail too short. Poor baby! I felt so bad and because of that she had a bad evening and a bad night. Thursday night she slept for 7 hours straight, eeeeee! So exciting! Last night she went back to waking up two or three times, I can't remember which. We've also transitioned her into sleeping in feet pajamas from being swaddled, she looks so cute :)

Allergic to Milk

Abby had her two month appointment on Sept. 10. She weighed 10 lbs. 15 oz. and she was 23 1/2". Her doctor said she was around the 50th percentile in both areas. She also had some pretty bad eczema on her cheeks and all over the rest of her body. He said it might be because she is allergic to dairy products. Soooo, I've had to stay off of them, which is no fun at all, because I LOVE cheese! It seemed to be helping and the eczema went away, but in the last few days it has come back, so today I get to eat Mac and Cheese and see if it gets any worse, whoopie! Abby also had to get her shots, which was no fun at all :( We don't like hearing her scream. Other than that, all is well :)

We Like Sleep

Last night Abigail slept from 10 - 3:30, 5 hours straight! When she woke up she was hungry and wanted to eat,and I don't blame her because she's never gone this long without eating before. She ate for 45 minutes, until 4:15, then went back to sleep for 3 hours and 15 minutes, until 7:30. We got 8 hrs of sleep, thank you Jesus! This is her first night of only waking up once to eat. I pray that there are many more to come. Now if she would only fall asleep, without a huge struggle, for her naps...

Contractions, YIKES!

On Wednesday during youth group Joy's stomach was run into full speed ahead by a Jr. High boy and it knocked her to her knees. She called the nurse in the morning and had to go into labor and delivery at Kaiser. She was having contractions and was given a shot and to stop them. We were at the hospital from 1:30 - 5:45 and when we left the doctor said that Joy, the baby, and everything were fine. After leaving the hospital we had to rush to our childbirth class where we had to watch ANOTHER birth video. We have an appointment on Tuesday to check up on everything. Phew...what a week!

Joy does not have gestational diabetes, yay! These days the baby's favorite activities involve jumping on Joy's bladder and kicking squirt when is shivering against her in the middle of the night.
